The delegation of TENEX – the leading foreign trade organization of ROSATOM, for over four decades delivering to the global market the products of Russian nuclear fuel cycle (NFC) facilities – visited PA Mayak. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss prospects of joint work in retrieval and reprocessing the spent nuclear fuel (SNF) from foreign countries. During the visit the guests were familiarized with the technological processes of SNF reprocessing, and radwaste handling at the radiochemical facility of PA Mayak.
Upon the technical tour completion the participants discussed specific aspects of cooperation in the context of potential projects on retrieval and reprocessing of SNF from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asian-Pacific region.
“Our shared task is to propose to the customer the solutions which in conformity with all environmental requirements would make SNF reprocessing more cost-efficient than long-term storage. We have witnessed that PA Mayak possesses unique experience and technologies, while in the past several decades our Company has acquired important competences in promoting NFC products and services on the global market. Bringing together the existing potentials, we could and should ensure an appropriate presence of Russian technologies in back-end sphere on the world market, - underlined TENEX’s General Director Lyudmila Zalimskaya.
“We are confident that PA Mayak is capable of meeting the needs of a broad range of foreign NPP’s for services related to UNF reprocessing. We possess the technologies that enable reprocessing of practically any irradiated nuclear fuel – from low-capacity research reactors to GW-class power reactors of VVER-1000 and VVER-1200 types. Promoting our services in tandem with TENEX appears to be the most rational way of expanding the range of foreign customers , - noted PA Mayak ‘s General Director Mikhail Pokhlebayev.
